I have my experiences with a company, but I have not tried the others mentioned in other answers, I can not compare.
I went with the exodus http://www.exodus.co.uk last year on a bike trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, and I think they were good. You can choose a lot of trips out of the world.
The number of participants was too large, and the trip was well planned. As you are a teacher, I should mention that about 10 people in my group, 3 were teachers!
We traveled with a group (I think the size of the groups are usually more than 16 people in their travel adventures.) They also have begun with some of their trips as "independent" holiday "for small groups (http:/ / www.exodus.co.uk / independentholid ... if you do not want to stay with a larger group.
Exodus uses only local guides on the trip, and they were from three countries. The use of local leaders of the local ecconomy in developing countries, which I think is a good support, and the leaders knew so much about their country.
